According to the National Park Service, visitors to Mount Rainier National Park will need a reservation to enter the park through the Nisqually, Stevens Canyon, and Sunrise/White River entrance stations during peak hours in summer 2024 1. The reservation is required between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and is intended to reduce crowding and environmental damage in the Paradise and Sunrise corridors 1. Visitors with in-park reservations for lodging or camping in one of the two corridors will not require an additional timed-entry reservation and can enter that corridor any time after 1 p.m. on the first day of their reservation and throughout their stay.
To make a reservation for Mount Rainier National Park, you can visit the National Park Service’s website. Reservations can be made up to three months in advance.
The timed-entry reservation system is being implemented as a pilot program to reduce wait times, congestion, and resource impacts on trails caused by overcrowding.
The reservation is required for two areas of the park: (1) Paradise Corridor coming from the southwest (near Ashford, WA) or southeast (near Packwood, WA), and (2) Sunrise Corridor coming from the northeast (via Enumclaw, WA) from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Each corridor requires a separate vehicle reservation. Timed entry reservations are good for a single day, per vehicle, and are required in addition to an entrance fee or park pass.
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS!!
