Here are a few question and answers regarding our ELK Horn Hunting Adventure.

Q Is a license required to search for Elk or deer antlers?
A. No license is required per The Fish and Game Laws in Washington State.

Q. Is the Foot Hills trail well groomed?
A. Yes, the trail is easily navigated by the novice hiker.

Q. How should I prepare for my walk along the trail i.e.; clothing, food, water, shoes, etc.
A. Weather conditions will dictate dressing needs. I would recommend layers of clothing such as sweatshirt with a water repellent overcoat. Although depending on individual choice, after a full service breakfast and returning for a charcutrie board after your hike, food is probably not necessary. Of course a bottle of water is always a good idea when exploring the woods, and a small snack, (granola bar etc.) can easily be packed into a coat pocket. Foot wear will also be dictated by weather conditions, a good pair of waterproof shoes is always a good idea.

Q. Can one expect to find horns in the middle of the trail?
A. Horns on the trail have been discovered in the past, but generally they are located in the underbrush along the sides of the trail.

Q. How will I know where along the trail to look for horns?
Watching for signs of elk droppings or tracks is best when searching for the illusive horns of both deer and elk.
